Felipe is a long time Facilities employee and in those years has managed to work his way up from custodian to painter to Building Maintenance Supervisor. He is a very hands on supervisor and isn't afraid to get them a little dirty to help his staff get things done. He and the lock shop have started with electronic key system implementation, and with his UAA degree in computer systems, he is a huge asset to the electronic key process. Felipe has also served as a union official and as UAA's Management Representative to the last two union agreement negotiations. He is a trusted adviser and collaborator, and a great asset to the entire Facilities team. Congratulations, Felipe!

Kathy Ivie

Kathy served as a Payroll Coordinator for over 10 years and during this time has exhibited exceptional commitment to getting the job done well and on time. Payroll is extremely vital to UAA as a whole and Kathy has always gone beyond her job to help and assist people with a smile, positive attitude and her characteristic quick wit. She has often skipped campus-wide and Administrative Services-wide events to get payroll entered and submitted on time. Kathy's honesty, integrity, hard work and respectful attitude makes her one of a kind for UAA. Congratulations Kathy!

Connie has been a UAA employee since 1981, and has been a member of the Facilities and Campus Services team since the late 1980's! Her 30 years of experience are an excellent resource to draw upon during critical situations such as year end, or in the day to day routine things like filling in at Dispacth. Her knowledge of the campus departments, people and procedures has
averted many unpleasant circumstances. Connie is willing and capable of stepping into almost every administrative role within Facilities Maintenance and Operations- she always goes the extra mile. Congratulations Connie!

Susie has been an employee at UAA since 1976- 35 years! She is a dedicated member of the Facilities and Campus Services team who never hesitates to take on or help with any task, whether it is regarding a squirrel loose in the library or assuming greater responsibility when an employee retires. Susie demonstrates strong leadership qualities and inspires others to do their best through her example. Congratulations Susie!

Michael Friess
Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach

Michael Friess is one of the nation's most respected Cross Country and Track and Field coaches. He claimed both the Cross Country men and women's GNAC Coach of the Year and the West Region Coach of the Year awards, and the accomplishments of the 2010 Cross Country team and the 2011 Track and Field team are unprecedented at UAA. Coach Friess is also recognized for the strong commitment he demonstrates to ensure the success of his athletes both on and off the field. Congratulations Coach Friess!

2010 Bill Rose Memorial Award Winner, Pat Leary 

Pat Leary
Landscaping Horticulture Supervisor
Facilities & Campus Services

Pat Leary has been employed at UAA since 1984. She is a phenomenal leader of the landscaping department and has worked diligently on UAA's application to the Arbor Day Foundation for the Tree Campus USA designation. UAA was recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation in the Chronicle of Higher Education as well as by the State of Alaska on Arbor Day for the overwhelming diversity of trees growing on campus. Both recognitions are a direct result of Pat's investment and commitment to improving the greenery on the UAA campus. Congratulations Pat!

Head Women's Volleyball Coach

Chris Green has been an exceptional employee since day one at UAA. In just two seasons as the Head Women's Volleyball Coach, Coach Green has led the Seawolves to one of the most remarkable turnarounds in collegiate volleyball, culminating with the program's first-ever GNAC title and NCAA Tournament win last year. His current record overall is 38-22 after taking over a program that was 17-58 in the preceding three seasons. Congratulations Coach Green!
