The year 2009 is a momentous one for Alaska. On January 3, the state will celebrate 50 years of statehood. UAA is proud to take part in celebrating Alaska’s golden anniversary. As an integral part of the Alaskan community, the campus is playing host to and promoting several important anniversary events including the University of Alaska supported Alaska Historical Society annual conference, an exciting edition of the Polaris Lecture Series’ annual Alaska Day lecture, and the youth-focused Forum and Conference of Young Alaskans.
