Pre-Admission Examination for Registered Nurse (PAX RN)

The Advising and Testing Center offers the Pre-Admission Examination for Registered Nurse (PAX RN). Testers MUST pre-register and pay a $45 fee. The exam is comprised of three sections Verbal Ability 60 questions, Mathematics 40 questions and Science 60 questions. Total testing time is 3.5 hours.

How to register for exam:

  1. Click here: www.nlnonlinetesting.org
  2. New registrations click on CREATE ACCOUNT or existing testers LOG INTO YOUR ACCOUNT.    
  3. Select Registration Store.
  4. Scroll to Pre-Admission and select Read More/Register.
  5. Select RN PROGRAM, STATE, and SCHOOL.
  6. Select test date and click on REGISTER FOR COMPUTER BASED EXAM.
  7. Bring your Log in and Password on exam day. This information is required to take the exam.           

No calculators are allowed for this exam.

Remote PAXRN Testing

Remote PAXRN tests are available at a cost of $45 to testers who are unable to physically test at the Advising & Testing Center.

Setting up a Remote PAXRN test will take 5 business days once the information has been submitted.

We require ALL testing be done in a proctored setting. No tester should be allowed to take the test without the supervision of an approved proctor.

 

Remote PAXRN Process

1. Find qualified proctor.

Proctor Qualifications:
·         Familiar with accepted practices for administering standardized tests 
·         Has no vested interest in the tester’s scores
·         Is not related to the tester
·         Is employed by an educational institution

2.   Have the proctor complete a Proctor Security Form and return it via fax to 907-786-4519 or scan and email it to testing@uaa.alaska.edu

3. Create a profile at www.nlnonlinetesting.org for a username and password to start your test. Bring this information with you to your proctor's  location on the day of your test.

4. Complete the Remote PAXRN Request Form (CLICK HERE) and submit.
