Para Professional Assessment

The ParaPro Assessment measures the reading, writing and basic math competencies of practicing and prospective paraprofessionals.  It also offers an objective assessment of a prospective teacher's requisite foundation of knowledge and skills and the ability to effectively use those skills in the classroom (ets.org/parapro).

When can I take it?

Examinees may test anytime the testing center is open.  Monday - Friday 8:30 am -  12:00  or 1:00 pm - 5:00.  Appointment can be scheduled in advance online or by phone: 907-786-4525.

Where can I take it?

The test is offered at the Advising and Testing Center  inside the University Center Mall at the south entrance. Address: 3901 Old Seward Highway, Room 112, Anchorage, Alaska, 99503.  Google Map: Advising and Testing Center 

How long is the test?

The test is 2.5 hours in length.

How much does it cost?

The cost to take the test is $85.00 and may be paid at the cashier window in the University Center during normal business hours or online through our online payment system.  Please note you will be charged a convenience fee for this service. 

What type of payment is accepted?

The cashier window in the University Center, accepts payment by cash, check, or credit  or debit cards (Visa or Master Card).  The online payment and registration sytem accepts credit and debit cards. 

What if I dont pass? can I retake the test?

Yes candidates may retake the test 21 days from the date of testing.

Do I receive a score report?

Candidates will be able to view and print an unofficial copy of the scores at the end of the test.  An official score report will be sent to the State of Alaska Credentialing office within 4 weeks of testing.  
 

Will the School District Accept my unofficial scores?

Please check with the school district directly to see if unofficial scores are acceptable.
