Associate's Degree Admissions Requirements.

  1. Apply to UAA as a degree-seeking student.  Students are encouraged to apply as a Pre-Major Diagnostic Medical Sonography major.
  2. Meet with an academic advisor to develop an academic plan. 
  3. Complete required prerequisite requirements as described in the AAS Diagnostic Medical Sonography website.
  4. Complete additional general degree requirements as described in the AAS Diagnostic Medical Sonography website.  (Optional)
  5. Meet one or both of the following:
    1. Possess an Associate's Degree, or higher, in a healthcare, treatment, or therapy/rehabilitation centered profession.
    2. Possess a national certification in a healthcare, treatment, or therapy/rehabilitation centered profession.
  6. Provide proof of having worked in a healthcare, treatment, or therapy/rehabilitation centered profession within the last five years.

Application Procedure

  1. Submit a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program application.
  2. Provide a copy of current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification.
  3. Provide updated and certified Immunization Record.
  4. Appear before a student selection panel for an interview.
  5. Once admitted, and prior to the program start, submit to a national-level criminal background check.

Applying to the DMS program is a two-part process, an application and a panel interview. Applicants selected for interview are encouraged to  interview in-person at the Anchorage campus; however, distance interviews may be conducted via video conferencing as needed.
