Academic advising assists students in developing and monitoring academic plans consistent with educational, career, and life goals.  The School of Allied Health uses a combination of faculty and staff advisors to provide academic advising services to prospective, new, and continuing students.

In general, health programs have very specific admission and degree requirements.  All students interested in pursuing or currently admitted to a certificate or degree program within the School of Allied Health are highly encouraged to meet with an academic advisor to learn about their desired program of study including prerequisite requirements and departmental application processes.

Who should I meet with to get academic advising?
Each department within the School of Allied Health has their own process for scheduling academic advising services.  Please use the contact information below to ask advising questions or to schedule an appointment. Not sure who to contact?  Please contact the Allied Health Student Success Coordinator, Lynda Hernandez at (907) 786-4894 with general advising questions.

Am I a Prospective, Pre-Major, or Full-Major?
Prospective students are students who have not yet applied to the university or those students not admitted as pre-majors or full-majors in their desired program of study.  Most students within the School of Allied Health are Pre-Majors--students who are in the process of completing prerequisites, general degree requirements, and other special program requirements before being admitted to the full-major of their desired program of study.  Full-Majors are students who are currently taking courses in their desired program of study (i.e. DH, RADT, MEDT, DA courses) or have been formally admitted to their desired program of study.
