UAA - Biology In Action

undefined

UAA biology professor, Jeff Welker, co-authored an important paper identifying gaps in our knowledge on how climate warming will change the Arctic. The international team of scientists who collaborated on the paper reviewed dozens of research documents on the effects of circumpolar Arctic warming and noted numerous direct effects. They then, in effect, issued a call to action describing what we need to be doing in several areas of global climate change research and where the public needs to spend its money.

The paper was published Friday, Sept. 11, in the journal Science. Read the abstract on the Science Web site. A press release on the article is available here. Also, find a report on the paper published today in the U.S. News & World Report, called "Arctic May Be Changed Forever, Study Finds." A podcast of Welker discussing the paper will be posted later Monday, and this Green and Gold item will be updated with that link.
