Monday June 14th

Bill Miles: Alaska Unsalted
Life in the land of the midnight sun may not be what it was in the days of sourdough prospectors and grizzled trappers, but former Alaska resident Bill Miles still captures a vivid sampling of America's forty-ninth state with this short story collection. With subjects ranging from whale hunts to gay charity balls, and with settings wandering from funeral parlors to bingo halls, the eight stories in this book add up to a notable assortment of memorable characters and their struggles.

Thursday June 17th

Dementia and Again: The Hope of Brain Science
Dr. Verner T. Bingman, professor of Psychology and head of the Cognitive/ Behavioral Neuroscience program at Bowling Green State University, presents a lecture on memory, dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. Sponsored by the Alaska Geriatric Education Center. the Alzheimer's Disease Resource Agency of Alaska and the UAA Campus Bookstore.

Artists, musicians and speakers come to share in an afternoon of ideas and talents.
