What exactly is an internship?
"Earn while you learn." Get paid and get class credit at the same time. Student internships are a unique form of education which integrates classroom study with paid, planned, and supervised work experience in the public and private sectors.
What are the requirements for elligible participation in an internship?
To participate in the program, students must have a declared major, maintain an approved grade point average, be enrolled in at least six credit hours (which may include the prospective internship), and be recommended by their facutly advisor.
Are internships limited to semester periods?
The Career Services Center's internships may begin any time during the semester and are not limited to the academic calendar in progress. A program placement can be initiated at anytime during the year.
How many hours is an intern allowed to work? Students participating in a student internship during the fall and spring semester, work 15 to 20 hours per week for a minimum of fifteen weeks to receive credit for the internship. However, during the summer an intern may work 40 hours per week.
