The mutual goal of both our faculty and career center is student success. By working together, faculty and career services can ensure that the transition from student to a member of the work force is as seamless as possible.
"Think of the path our students take to their professional career as a camping trip. Our faculty does an outstanding job of 'filling the students 'backpacks' with the knowledge and practical skills they need to thrive once they reach their destination. At the Career Services Center, we provide the maps and compasses, and serve as guides for students conducting their career exploration." Michael E. We Help Your Students Find the Right Fit
We help students determine the right career for their interests, career goals, skills, values, and personality. During their academic careers, students return to the Career Services Center to develop essential job-search skills. We are a student's best resource for job outlook, salary, and employment trend information.
We Know Employers Who Want to Know You
At the Career Center, we work directly with employers, who often ask for the contact information of faculty members who could help them to target students in a particular major or discipline. Ideally, employers would like to develop mutually beneficial relationships with faculty and can provide many forms of support. We can facilitate that connection. We also have resources to help faculty understand their ethical and legal responsibilities towards students.
Resources for FacultyPlease click on the Career Resources link to the left to learn about our services. We also offer tours of our center, presentations at department meetings, and individual appointments in order to provide faculty and instructors with a better understanding of our services and facilities. Having this information will allow you to better help your students by making proper referals and passing on helpful information for their career and vocational benefit.

Many students seek career guidance and assistance from faculty and advisors. Through written publications and individual consultations, we can help you become familiar with career development information, issues, and theories as they relate to the material you present to your students. These may also guide you in meetings with students who bring career concerns to you.
PresentationsWe are delighted to come into your classes to offer instruction on various career planning and job search topics. We ask that you contact the Career Services Center at (907) 786-4513 or aycareer@uaa.alaska.edu to schedule such presentations. A minimum of a two-week lead time is necessary for all presentation requests.
HandoutsSome faculty like to use Career Services handouts and our Career Management Guide as part of their courses. While we are willing to share our materials with faculty and students, we are not in a position to provide large quantities of these handouts to all courses offered. We provide a master copy of individual handouts for reproduction through your department.
