Whatever your career questions and needs may be, you will find people in the Career Services Center dedicated to helping you find answers and learn proper procedures for pursuing your career path. Click on the 'Career Resources' link to your left for information on how the Career Services Center can assist you in reaching your vocational and career endeavors. As a student, you may take advantage of CSC services and resources at no charge.

undefinedCAREER EXPLORATION STAGES


Stage 1: Getting Started
Explore interests, values, and skills by taking a variety of classes. Take a self-assessment survey at the Career Center. Get involved in campus activities to continue developing leadership skills. Plan a summer work experience or find a local internship during the academic semester to investigate a career interest. Get a part-time job to develop job skills. Begin developing Good relationships with faculty and advisors. Focus on making grades a priority. Start putting together a resume.

Stage 2: Career Exploration and Development of Marketable Skills

Get involved in leadership positions on campus. Decide on major. Continue building relationships with faculty and mentors. Seek out job shadowing opportunities, do informational interviews, and use the Alumni Mentoring program to research career options. Take elective courses to develop marketable skills. Plan for a summer internship. Refine your resume.

Gain additional leadership experience. Explore internship opportunities. Start investigating your options if you are considering graduate school. Build your resume.

Stage 4: Job Searching Skills
Develop strategies for finding a job or getting into graduate school. Develop interviewing skills by attending workshops and doing mock interviews. Attend resume and cover letter writing workshops. Hone networking skills to assist in the job search process. Attend the career fairs. Register for on-campus recruiting. Target employers.
