This study, funded by Kaiser Permanente Colorado Community Benefit Investment Committee, will describe the process and impact of using a community-based approach to transform an urban public space, currently being cultivated by refugees from Burma, Somalia, Afghanistan and Nepal, into a park that would include space for community gardening and recreation; and to assess the reach, representativeness of park users; involvement of stakeholders, community members and other key partners in the park re-development process, evaluate the impact on food access and physical and social activity before, during and after the redesign of the park.
