Retail Management Certificate

The UAA Board of Regents recently approved the Community & Technical College's (CTC) new undergraduate certificate in retail management. The certificate meets an acknowledged need in the Alaska retail industry and is fully endorsed by the Western Association of Food Chains. Currently, the retail grocery industry includes three of the top four largest private-sector employers in Alaska.

The certificate incorporates skills in business writing, business math, computer applications, oral communications, management, bookkeeping/accounting, marketing, retailing, leadership and human resource management. Students have an opportunity to focus on either career/technical education or acquiring transferable credits for the future pursuit of associate and baccalaureate degrees. Disciplines in which general management competencies are important include accounting, finance, marketing, etc.

The program is offered through CTC's Chugiak-Eagle River Campus in conjunction with the UAA College of Business & Public Policy. It was developed in collaboration with the University of Alaska Fairbanks Community & Technical College.
