The purpose of the Long Term Care Apprenticeship Program (LTCAP) is to implement industry-driven training solutions that address the long-term care sector’s critical workforce challenges by building and maintaining partnerships between the workforce investment system, long-term care employers, education and training providers, and other public and private sector partners. Training is guided by the long-term care providers and includes a set of industry approved competencies that guide instruction and incorporates on-the-job learning opportunities.

The program supports the two apprenticeships listed in the right menu: 1) The Certified Nursing Assistant Specialty Apprenticeships; and 2) The Direct Support Specialist Apprenticeship with classes distance delivered through Prince William Sound Community College (PWSCC), an affiliate college of the University of Alaska Anchorage.

The program also supports the Direct Service Specialist Occupational Endorsement from PWSCC which includes the core courses of the DSSA and two additional electives.
