Celebration of Chinese Performing Arts---Sept. 10th

 
A crowd of nearly 400 people enjoyed the celebration at UAA Wendy Williamson auditorium on Thursday September 10 at 7:00 PM. Artists from San Francisco such as ……. Joined local artists from the Anchorage community in performances and demonstrations.

Professor Barry Naughton, So Kwanlok Chair of Chinese and International Affairs at the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at University of California, San Diego, spoke to a crowd of students, faculty and interested members of the Anchorage community on Friday, September 11, 2009 to discuss the global economic crisis and China’s role in bringing us out of it. Chinese Adventure---Sept. 12

 
About four hundred people came out on a rainy Saturday, September 12, 2009 to enjoy the Chinese Adventure, a carnival of games, performances, prizes and activities from noon to 4:00 PM in the UAA Student Union. Many families with children came and had a fine time. Volunteers from the Alaska Chinese Association and the UAA Chinese Language Club were instrumental in making the event a great success. We look forward to putting on more of these soon.
 

Chinese Movie Night---Sept. 12

A very successful and enjoyable Chinese Culture Week concluded on Sunday, September 13, 2009 with a screening of the 1999 film by Wu Tianming King of Masks, the story of a master of the Sichuan Opera art of “Change of Face” and his quest for a young protégé to whom he can pass on his art. The audience of forty plus people enjoyed the film immensely.
