Computer Information & Office Systems

The Computer Information & Office Systems (CIOS) program will provide you with a comprehensive educational experience that develops skills and prepares you for today’s office environment. The program provides services if you are just entering the field or if you need to develop more advanced technology and office skills.

Many University of Alaska Anchorage Certificate and Occupational Endorsement Certificate programs are defined as Gainful Employment programs for the purposes of student financial aid. Valuable information about these programs including program cost, graduation rates, job placement rates, student loan debt, and other important information can be found by viewing the Gainful Employment Disclosure form or by visiting the UAA Gainful Employment Disclosure website.

CIOS offers a wide range of educational opportunities in the following programs:

Occupational Endorsement Certificates (less than 30 credits) 
The Occupational Endorsement Certificates provide intensive training in a specific occupational area which indicates competence in technical and professional skills.  CIOS offers occupational endorsements certificates in the following areas:

  • Office Foundations
  • Office Support
  • Corporate Specified Skills

The following OECs are under suspension as of Spring 2013. The department will not be admitting any new students to them.

  • Bookkeeping Support
  • Medical Office Support
  • Office Digital Media
  • Technology Support

Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree - (minimum of 60 credits)
The Associate of Applied Science degree finalizes the technical and professional training that will lead to entry-level positions in a wide variety of industries.

The CIOS instructional computer lab is in UC 134 and contains 20 computers with all software required for CIOS courses.
