Test Preparation

New!! New!!  New!!

Club Ed has organized study groups for writing, mathematics, and Praxis exam preparation. Check out the information from menu at left, Student Services>Student Organizations.

For students who are more concerned about the math portion of Praxis, continue to use study guides and utilize the Math Lab for individualized assistance.
Learning Resource Center - http://www.uaa.alaska.edu/ctc/lrc/

If you are admitted to the BA in elementary or early childhood education and have completed approximately 20-30 credits, including the 6 credits of Written Communication and 3 credits of Quantitative Skills (mathematics), register for the Praxis 1 test. This program is designed to diagnose your skill levels in reading, writing, and mathematics and will customize a tutorial program to help you improve in identified areas of deficiencies. Your lessons are personalized to meet your needs. You can work on lessons from any computer, even at home. You will have A+dvancer access for 90 days. The fee is $30 per unit of assessment. This test preparation is designed for Accuplacer, basic skills assessment, but it may be helpful for the individual needing Praxis preparation.

Alaska Digital Pipeline -  This brochure describes the “Digital Pipeline” project.  It is a project that purchases access to databases (for Alaska residents) and it is funded by the Alaska State Legislature and maintained by Alaska libraries.  This project includes many databases providing full text articles in journals and magazines and products like the “Testing & Education Reference Center,” which students can use to take practice tests and use e-book study guides for many tests (including SAT, ACT, and many others besides the Praxis).  Here is the link to that handout:

Because it is a subscription (purchased) database, only Alaska residents can access it.
