Eight Stars of Gold - http://www.alaska.edu/8stars/
In 2008 and 2009 Alaska will celebrate the golden anniversary of the achievement of Alaska Statehood. Congress passed the Statehood Act in June 1958 and President Eisenhower signed the Statehood Proclamation in January 1959. To commemorate and celebrate this momentous anniversary, the University of Alaska is spearheading Eight Stars of Gold, a multi-faceted educational project targeting school children, community groups and the general public.
Many thanks to Judy Green, COE Liaison, Consortium Library, for the following information:
Digital Pipeline
This brochure describes the “Digital Pipeline” project. It is a project that purchases access to databases (for Alaska residents) and it is funded by the Alaska State Legislature and maintained by Alaska libraries. This project includes many databases providing full text articles in journals and magazines and products like the “Testing & Education Reference Center,” which your students can use to take practice tests and use e-book study guides for many tests (including SAT, ACT, and many others besides the Praxis). Here is the link to that handout:
http://consortiumlibrary.org/hsis/researchaids/handouts/DigitalPipeline_hsis_May08_nopw.pdf
Because it is a subscription (purchased) database, only Alaska residents can access it.
