Club Ed exists as a meeting place for all UAA students interested in the field of education. Club Ed strives to support excellence in education, to improve teaching and learning as well as to promote public support and policies to build the profession of teaching.

All members of Club Ed must be current UAA fee-paying students, enrolled in a minimum of three credit hours and in good academic standing at UAA. Members are encouraged but not required to join an official professional organization to assist in professional development.

Kappa Delta Pi
Student membership in the Rho Zeta Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi:
Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society in education whose purpose is to recognize outstanding contributions to education. Most of the fifty states, Canada, Mexico, Australia and the United Kingdom have one or more chapters. Past members include Dewey, Mead, Piaget, Einstein and Eleanor Roosevelt. Rho Zeta is the first chapter of this organization installed in Alaska. Its membership consists of local teachers and administrators, UAA faculty members, and education students. Members of Kappa Delta Pi receive the professional publications of the Society and are eligible for a variety of scholarships (national - from $500 to $2,000; local – from $200 to $1,000). The initial fee for joining Kappa Delta Pi is $45. This fee covers the cost of membership for one year as well as the initiation costs (certificate, pin, etc.). Criteria for membership and applications may be found on the bulletin board near the stairwell outside PSB 209 or on our web site at http://kdp.uaa.alaska.edu/.
