The SWE, founded in 1950, is a non-profit educational service organization of over 15,000 international, professional engineers and engineering student members.  SWE has an extensive network of members throughout the nation that provides programs to encourage young women to enter the field of engineering.  SWE sets out to stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, as well as expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life.  The Society also works to demonstrate the value of diversity.

The ASCE, founded in 1852, is the oldest national engineering society in the United States. ASCE was formed to enhance the quality of life through the advancement of professional knowledge and by improving the practice of civil engineering. EWB is a student organization dedicated to improving the world.
