Objective: Design and build a water cannon (at home or school) capable of shooting water extended distances using only manpower. The primary criteria for your design will be the distance your water gun can shoot water.
Three measurements will be taken: distance, offset and mass of gun plus water in the gun. A long strip measuring tape is used to measure the “distance” traveled by the water jet. The “offset” is measured by projecting a perpendicular line from where the water jet lands to the distance tape. The final score will be computed as the distance minus two times the offset divided by the mass of the gun and water in the gun at the start of the competition.
Score = (Distance - 2*Offset)/mass of gun and water in the gun
Your competition score will be the largest computed value for your two attempts.
