
Candidate Program
The Goals of the Candidate Program
- Familiarize each candidate with the mission, history, organization, and activities of AAS.
- Educate the candidate about the organizations AAS is affiliated with.
- Instill in the candidate a greater interest in the community, squadron, cadet wing, university, and USAF.
- Acquaint and prepare the candidate for leadership roles within AAS through emphasis on officer development, community service, and AFROTC standards.
Squadron Responsibility
- Successfully prepare all candidate for induction into the society.
- Have squadron members become more involved in the candidate process.
- Make sure that all candidates know the duties and responsibilities of all squadron positions.
Responsibilities of the Candidate
Service Project
Candidates will participate in a minimum of one service project during the program. This project can benefit the corps, campus, or community and must be complete before initiation. All candidates must take part in the project in some way.
Attendance
Attendance is mandatory to all training, service project and drill/inspection meetings, and squadron activities. Candidates must attend at least one squadron meeting during the program. Candidates who do not attend 90% of class functions will not be eligible for admittance into the society.
Inspections and Drill
Candidates will participate in assigned inspections through out the program. One pop inspection may be administered at any time during the program. For the weeks where no inspection takes place, candidates will participate in a drill session conducted by one of the squadron members.
Physical Fitness
Candidates are required to work out at least once a week with one AAS member. At the culmination of the candidate process, candidates will also participate in the warrior run around campus as a team building and problem solving exercise.
