Program Update

UAA's Massage Therapy Program is currently suspended.  While re-establishing the Massage Therapy Certificate program is a priority, it is contingent on the expansion of current Allied Health Facilities. To the latter goal, the UAA Chancellor has confirmed UAA’s next capital facilities request will target a Health Sciences Building.

Continuing Education Program

Since re-establishing the Certificate program is at least three years away, the Allied Health Division intends to continue educational offerings for practicing massage therapists within the limited Allied Health classroom space. The classes will be offered for CEUs, not for academic credit. The number of CEUs will be determined based on the number of class hours, course objectives, and curriculum content and may vary from class to class. Work is already underway to determine class topics and skill development areas. Instructional offerings will be expanded in direct response to documented skill-based training needs by practicing massage therapists. Over time, we will build capacity for the Instructors to be National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) certified and thus support advancement of skilled practitioners and enhance the massage therapy community.
