College Committees

The Community & Technical College engages in ongoing participatory planning through college committees that provide direction for the college community and leads to fulfillment of its mission, accomplishment of its core theme objectives, and achievement of the identified goals or intended outcomes of its programs and services.

• Academic Decision Review Committee
  The Academic Decision Review Committee is charged with the resolution of disputes between faculty and students regarding final grades and other academic matters in accordance with the policies and procedures for Academic Dispute Resolution outlined in the UAA Student Handbook.
  
  
• Nominations and Elections Committee
  The Nominations & Elections Committee is composed of three full-time faculty members who are charged with conducting the process of nominations and elections of CTC faculty to six CTC standing committees in spring semester of each academic year and as needed throughout the remainder of the appointed term.
  
  
• Peer Review Committee
  University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) tenure-track faculty members are reviewed annually for their performance in the development, dissemination, and application of knowledge and skills. Annual reviews examine faculty members' demonstration of quality instruction, contributions to quality programs, and active engagement in service to the college and community. The CTC Peer Review Committee is charged with conducting the college-level review of peer faculty members' files according to the CTC Faculty Review Criteria and Guidelines. The committee's reviews and recommendations are submitted to the dean on a timeline prescribed by current UAA policies, procedures and contracts.
  
  
• Program Improvement Curriculum Review Committee (PICR)
  The PICR Committee is charged with reviewing and approving academic policy and issues related to the curriculum for academic programs and instruction offered by the college. The PICR Committee reviews, suggests improvements for, and approves curricular actions for new or revised courses, and degree and certificate programs before forwarding these actions to the appropriate governing boards. The PICR Committee is also responsible for the review, and approval of all non-credit and CEU courses offered by the college.
  
  
• Safety Committee
  The CTC Safety Committee is organized to make recommendations to the dean regarding issues pertaining to safety in the college. The committee is charged to review college and unit policies and procedures related to safety, monitor college operations and facilities for safety issues, and organize safety-related professional development activities for college faculty and staff. The committee will encourage safety awareness across the college and collaborate with colleagues across the campus to promote a safe learning environment for students, faculty and staff.
  
  
• Scholarship & Tuition Waiver Committee
  The committee is charged with reviewing scholarship and tuition waiver applications and making recommendations to the dean on college awards. The committee will evaluate applications for scholarships based on the criteria outlined for each fund. The committee will evaluate tuition waiver requests based on the college's criteria for increasing student retention and program completion.
