CTC Tuition Waiver Scholarship

CTC Tuition Waivers

NOTE: The deadline for the fall 2013 tuition waiver application period has passed. Check back for the opening of the spring 2014 application period.

The Community & Technical College (CTC) awards a limited number of tuition waivers each year in support of student success. The focus of the tuition waiver program is to assist qualified students who are close to completing certificates or degrees. These competitive awards are open to continuing CTC students in good standing. There are two separate competition cycles per year: fall and spring semester.

A tuition waiver is not a grant of cash but instead waives tuition charges during the semester of the award. It does not waive fees or other costs (e.g., living expenses, textbooks, etc.). There are no funds transferred to the student. Waivers are applied to the student's UAA account by the registrar at the point of semester registration.

Applications are reviewed by a five-member elected faculty committee of the college, and awards are recommended to the CTC Dean, who determines award recipients. All award decisions are final. The fall 2013 award application period opened on Monday, March 4, 2013

    Please Note

Applicants please note: The CTC tuition waiver  program adheres to all applicable policies and guidelines of the University of Alaska Board of Regents and UAA Office of Student Financial Assistance. As financial aid awards, tuition waivers are coordinated with university-administered student financial aid packages. Tuition waivers may affect the level of other financial aid you may receive. Please notify the UAA Office of Financial Assistance once you are aware you will be receiving a tuition waiver. Students with tuition waivers must submit completed waiver forms and pay additional fees by the applicable payment deadline. Financial holds on your student account may cause scholarship checks and refund checks to be held up. For additional information about UAA Financial Aid policies that may apply to CTC tuition waiver recipients, refer to the UAA Financial Aid policies website or Chapter Four of the UAA 2012-13 Catalog.
