Heavy Duty Transportation and Equipment (HDTE) AAS degree is designed to teach students the skills needed to be successful as a technician in the medium- and heavy-duty truck and equipment service industry. The AAS degree may be completed in five (5) semesters, including one summer semester of practicum. Career opportunities for graduates include manufacturer and independent repair and maintenance shops, fleets, construction, mining, aviation ground support, and the seafood processing industry.

Upon graduation, you will be able to:

• Demonstrate problem solving capabilities necessary to be successful as technicians in the Heavy/Medium-Duty maintenance and repair industry.

• Understand the theory of diesel engine operation.
• Demonstrate proper diagnosis and repair techniques for diesel engines.
• Understand the theory of medium- and heavy-duty drive trains.
• Demonstrate proper diagnosis and repair techniques for medium- and heavy-duty drive trains.
• Understand the theory of pneumatic and hydraulic brake systems and their application on medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
• Demonstrate proper diagnostic and repair techniques for pneumatic and hydraulic brake systems and their application on medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
• Understand the theory of suspension and steering on medium- and heavy-duty vehicle applications.
• Understand the theory of electrical/electronic systems and their application on medium- and heavy-duty applications.
• Demonstrate proper diagnosis and repair techniques for electrical/electronic systems on medium- and heavy-duty applications.
• Understand the theory of air conditioning, and climate control, on modern vehicle applications.
• Demonstrate proper diagnosis and repair techniques for heating and air conditioning systems, on medium- and heavy-duty vehicle applications
• Demonstrate proper techniques for preventive maintenance on medium- and heavy-duty applications.

All programs are NATEF certified. All faculty are ASE certified.
