Arnold Air Society, University of Alaska Anchorage, DET001 David J McCloud Squadron
The Arnold Air Society (AAS) is a professional, honor, and service organization made up of Air Force ROTC cadets from approximately 150 of the nation's colleges and universities and United States Air Force Academy cadets. It is a nationwide organization with the primary purpose of developing more effective Air Force Officers. It engages in the planning and conducting of community service, educational, and fund-raising activities. Currently, there are approximately 3000 cadets that are members of the AAS. Any cadet is qualified to become a member of the society, provided he/she has evidenced interest in such membership, maintained sufficient scholastic standards, and has successfully completed the initiation program.
AAS provides cadets with leadership, organizational and public relations opportunities. Cadets are also afforded the opportunity of meeting and interacting with cadets from across the country. Cadets are encouraged to communicate with local government and business leaders, as well as the Air Force Association.
