Interested in becoming a fisheries observer? You must be hired by an observer contractor prior to attending a class at the Observer Training Center.
Standard Requirements for Becoming an Observer Include:
- Employment by a certified observer provider company (contact one of the observer providers listed below for employment information).
- Bachelor's Degree in a natural science (or equivalent).
- One class each of statistics and math for a total of 5 credits for groundfish observers.
- Successful completion of training program and certification testing, scheduled by contractor for observer employee.
- No physical limitations that will interfere with performance of observer duties.
