Transportation and Power

The Transportation and Power Division is home to the Automotive & Diesel Technology and Welding & Nondestructive Testing programs.

 

Automotive & Diesel Technology

The Automotive & Diesel Technology (ADT) programs offer Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees and Undergraduate Certificates in the following subjects:
  • General Automotive
    • 64 credits for an AAS
    • 49 credits for an Undergraduate Certificate
  • Ford ASSET
    • 67 credits for an AAS
  • General Motors ASEP
    • 67 credits for an AAS
  • Heavy Duty Transportation & Equipment
    • 69 credits for an AAS
    • 54 credits for an Undergraduate Certificate
The start of the Ford ASSET and GM ASEP programs is offered on a two-year rotation. The Ford ASSET program will next be starting in Fall 2009; GM ASET in Fall 2010.

ADT also offers Occupational Endorsement Certificates in Automotive Technology in the following emphases:
  • Automotive Electrical (18 credits)
  • Automotive Engine Performance (23 credits)
  • Automotive Power Trains (22 credits)
  • Automotive Brakes, Suspension & Alignment (25 credits)

The Occupational Endorsements allow students to develop focused skill sets in high-demand areas of automotive maintenance and repair. Once completed, students are able to demonstrate proficiency in diagnosis and repair and have specialized employability skills for maintenance and repair technicians.

All programs are NATEF certified. All faculty are ASE certified.

 

Welding & Nondestructive Testing

The Welding and Nondestructive Testing Department offers an AAS Degree in Welding and Nondestructive Testing, as well as Undergraduate Certificates in the following subjects:
  • Industrial Welding Technology
  • Nondestructive Testing Technology

These programs are designed to equip students with knowledge and skills necessary to meet the needs of employers in the industry. All programs are based on applicable industry standards and lead to industry-based certificates.
