UAA General University Requirements for Associate of Applied Science Degrees

In order to receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree, students must be admitted to the program and must satisfy General University Requirements for Associate of Applied Science Degrees

A. Students must complete the major degree requirements.

B. Students must earn a minimum of 60 credits for an AAS degree.

C. Students must complete at least 15 credits in residence. Residence credit is earned in formal classroom instruction, correspondence study, or distance-delivered courses through any unit of UAA. Because Apprenticeship Technologies is delivered collaboratively with UAF and UAS, collaborative program credits from each participating institution is counted toward fulfillment of residence credits.

D. Students must earn a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 (C) at UAA, for both General Course Requirements and courses required for the major.

E. Students may elect to graduate under the requirements of the catalog in effect at the time of formal acceptance to the associate degree program or the catalog in effect at the time of graduation.

F. If the requirements for an associate degree are not met within five years of formal acceptance into the program, admission expires and the student must reapply for admission and meet the admission and graduation requirements in effect at the time of formal acceptance. Undergraduate credits never expire.

G. All courses for an AAS degree must be at the 100-level or above.

H. No more than 15 military credits can be applied to an Associate of Applied Science degree.
