Major Requirements for AAS in Apprenticeship Technologies (includes General Course Requirements)

AAS students who intend to pursue a baccalaureate degree should consult a faculty or academic advisor for appropriate course selections.

Complete UAA General University Requirements for Associate of Applied Science Degrees and the major requirements:

A. Oral Communication Skills (3 credits): complete one of the following:

• COMM A111 Fundamentals of Oral Communication
• COMM A235 Small Group Communication
• COMM A237 Interpersonal Communication
• COMM A241 Public Speaking

B. Written Communication Skills (6 credits): complete both:

• ENGL A111 Methods of Written Communication
• ENGL A212 Technical Writing

C. Computation Skills (3 credits): complete one of the following

• MATH A105 Intermediate Algebra (or higher)
• STAT A252 Elementary Statistics (or higher)

D. Interpersonal Relations (3 credits): Take one of the following:

• HUMS/PSY 153 Human Relations
• CIOS A261A Interpersonal Skills in Organizations*
• Any Social Sciences course meeting the General Education Requirement

E. Complete 6 credits of safety, business, technical or other advisor-approved courses linked to an identified education or career pathway. (*Including 3 credits General Course Requirements if CIOS A261A is taken for D above.)

F. Transcripted apprenticeship certified experience credit (up to 38 credits)

G. Electives to complete 60 credits

H. Portfolio: submit the following items to complete your required portfolio:

• Paper from ENGL A212
• Exam from MATH A105 or STAT A252
• Assignment from COMM class
• Assignment from Human Relations class
