Seven (7) Student Diversity Awards to UAA students for contributions that have significantly advanced diversity at UAA campuses

Kenai Peninsula College/Alaska Native Oratory Society Event

  • KPC hosted its second regional AkNOS event.
  • Six (6) students participated in the regional event and attended the statewide AkNOS event on the UAA main campus.

2010 Reel Eyes (7th Year for the Event)

  • Reel Eyes is a showcase of films by and about people with disabilities
  • Films comprise a range of themes offering alternative representation of people with disabilities

Discussion Series Presented by International Student Association

  • Forums brought together members of the group and campus to engage in discussion featuring cultural diversity issues. 

      Families of the World India

  • The "Families of the World" series invited students, staff, faculty, and the community to bring children (ages 5-12) to watch a short film, depicting the life of both an urban and rural child in the target country.
  • Event featured country-specific food sampling.

8.    2010 UAA Women's History Month

  • Provided an opportunity to showcase the impact women have had in their local, state, national and international communities
  • Programs were for all ages, many different ethnic backgrounds, a variety of interests from art to film and many other pursuits
  • Increased visibility of the accomplishments of women and offered insight to issues through a female perspective

UAA Thirteenth Annual German Day

  • Aquainted high school students with what UAA has to offer
  • Provided the opportunity to meet UAA students and professors in the German program to learn more about German culture and try out their German skills
  • This year's theme: "The Twentieth Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall"
  • Workshop on the history of the Berlin Wall between 1961-1989 concentrated on promoting mutual understanding and tolerance between peoples, drawing on the experience of the long standing tensions between the former East and West Germans
