Our Mission

The Office of Campus Diversity and Compliance primary function is to 

Promote, support, measure, and celebrate diversity. This mission also includes support for the Diversity Action Council and other programming events and activities that promote diversity on campus.

Manage and coordinate University policies, procedures, and programs regarding equal opportunity and affirmative action.

The Office of Campus Diversity and Compliance handles complaints on discrimination and harassment based on race, color,gender, sexual-orientation, religion, national origin, citizenship, age, marital status, disability or status as a Vietnam-era or disabled veteran. The Office of Campus Diversity and Compliance also provides sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity training, supervisor and employee support, conflict resolution, and discussion groups for departments around cultural inclusion and awareness.

Spring 2015 Respectful Workplace Training

The Office of Campus Diversity and Compliance will be sponsoring Respectful Workplace Training workshops for both employees and supervisors. If you or your employees are interested in attending, please feel free to come to any of the following sessions. Pre-registration is not required.

Respectful Workplace for Employees

Encourages attendees to positively impact their work environment through effective communication, respect and personal integrity. Acceptable, professional workplace behavior is defined and employees are encouraged to recognize and filter their personal biases. Attendees are also provided with tools for responding to behavior then encounter that falls below the UAA professional standard. The session concludes with an overview of the formal and informal investigative processes, pursuant to Board of Regents' policy and regulation.

Respectful Workplace for Supervisors

Encourages supervisors to establish and maintain ongoing communication with their employees. Various forms of employee recognition are explored and the importance of mutual trust and respect between supervisors and employees is emphasized. Supervisors are provided with tools that will bolster supervisors' confidence in engaging in transformational conversations with their direct reports, whether speaking with the complaining party or the accused. This session concludes with an overview of the formal and informal investigative processes pursuant to Board of Regents' policy and regulation.

UAA Faculty & Staff Title IX Training

 Beginning Monday, June 16, 2014, we have asked that all faculty & staff member attend a Title IX training. Title IX is more than a sports law, and it aims to bring gender equity to all educational programs, especially through the elimination of sexual harassment and sexual assault on campus. 

Title IX Training

We are in the process of planning our training calendar for upcoming Title IX training. You do have the option of attending an upcoming in person training as the dates become available, or faculty and staff do have the option to complete the training through UAOnline SkillSoft. You may find the online training by following these steps:

1. Login to UAOnline http://uaonline.alaska.edu
2. Clock on "Employee Services" or the "Employee" tab and press "Enter"
3. Click on "Employee E-Learning"
4. Click on "SkillSoft" ( You will see a warning that you are leaving the University web system) Click "Submit"
5. The University of Alaska SkillPort site will be displayed
6.In the Search - and - Learn panel, type a keyword or phrase in the "Search for" field. Type "Title IX Higher Education"
7. Click "Search" and "Launch"
8. After completing, click the "Exit" button at the end. DO NOT use the X "close window" button or Scores and bookmarks may be lost if you do not use the SkillPort Player's Exit button
