About the Alaska Middle College School
For more information on the Alaska Middle College School, please call 907.746.8494.
Alaska Middle College School is Alaska's (AMCS) first public high school in which students are simultaneously enrolled in both high school and college couses. Because the Alaska Middle College School is a Mat-Su public school, tuition, transportation and textbooks are free for all students. By the end of two years at AMCS, students can earn their high school diploma while working toward completion of a UAA Associate of Arts degree.
All college courses at AMCS are college-level, non-remedial classes taught by University of Alaska Anchorage faculty. Students earn both college and high school credit for successful completion of these courses.
Courses in subject areas not taught by UAA faculty, but which are required for high school graduation, are taught by Mat-Su Borough highly qualified high school teachers or complemented through Apex, our online learning curriculum.
All classes at AMCS are taught at the UAA Chugiak-Eagle River Campus. The school provides free bus transportation through a partnership with Valley Mover from two valley locations.
Fall 2014 new student advising appointments are now being scheduled for July 7 – Aug. 1
