Conversations that Matter:
Teen Suicide in Alaska

The issue area of Health and Mental Health is so broad that it has been narrowed down to three sections: health disparities, dental health, and mental health. Many aspects of Alaska are unique – its day less summers and night less winters, its harsh climate, and exceptional landscape. Mental health issues are also unique to Alaska. Alaska has high rates of suicide, alcohol and substance abuse, and mental illness. These problems are countered by the high number of mental health agencies in Alaska that provide the support and care that Alaskans need. [Read more.]
