Faculty Technology Center

The IT Services Faculty Technology Center (FTC) is an instructional lab and learning center that provides guidance and support to UAA Faculty utilizing instructional technologies to achieve academic success.

The Faculty Technology Center:

  • Provides a gateway for faculty services and faculty resources for the Distance Education Program
  • Assists and supports faculty in the development of digital learning objects and distance education methodologies
  • Works to stimulate interest in and facilitate the use of instructional technologies in teaching and learning
  • Offers multimedia design and development
  • Assists in media conversion and test scanning

The FTC is located in Suite 215 of the Consortium Library and is available by phone at 786-4646, option #4.

List of Services Offered

  • Digital Media Services
    These services assist faculty in "going digital." Whether by way of scanning, duplicating or streaming media, we can "convert you." Providing Scantron exam sheet scoring, we email results with optional analysis reports within 72 hours. We also have digital video cameras available for faculty checkout.
  • Distance Education Faculty Services
    Faculty will find the FTC to be their central point of contact regarding distance education needs. All student support for distance education, meanwhile, is located in SSB 120.
  • Instructional Design and Consultation
    Designers are available to assist faculty in implementing technologies into their instructional practice. Whether you're thinking about incorporating Blackboard or eLive into your courses, acquiring advanced technical skills, or converting a course to a hybrid or fully online format, the Instructional Designers can get you on your way.
  • Instructional Lab
    Equipped with the latest in instructional technologies, this lab is available by reservation for faculty's instructional and academic needs.
  • Multimedia Design and Development
    Our designers work in collaboration with faculty and the instructional design team to create engaging learning by integrating course content with technologies that help meet your course objectives.
  • Technology Fellows Program
    Designed to develop a community of instructional technology leaders, this program is composed of faculty from all UAA Campuses. Technology Fellows effectively integrate technology to support teaching and learning within their courses.
