Designers are available to assist faculty in implementing technologies into their instructional practice.

Whether you're thinking about incorporating Blackboard or eLive into your courses, advanced technical skills, or converting a course to a hybrid or fully online format, Instructional Design can get you on your way.

 

What is Instructional Design?

Instructional design is the systematic development of educational materials, workshops, tutorials, and curriculum using behavioral and cognitive theories of learning to enhance teaching and learning.

Instructional designers in the Faculty Technology Center:

  • Partner with faculty in the use of Blackboard for teaching, with a focus on learning objectives, student interactions, and course organization.
  • Collaborate with faculty on the design, development, implementation and evaluation courses and course materials.
  • Assist faculty in analyzing curricula and materials to determine appropriate course delivery methods and instructional technologies.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new instructional technologies and practices.
  • Create materials and workshops for faculty on the  instructional technology, pedagogy,and best practices in teaching and learning through technology.
  • Provide leadership and support collaboration across UAA to promote excellence in teaching and learning through technology.
  • Encourage faculty peer sharing of teaching through technology.
