Some things to know:

  • You may only receive financial aid up to cost of attendance.
  • At UAA you must have completed a FAFSA to be eligible for loans.
  • Some loans such as Stafford loans have a yearly limit on the amount you can receive.
  • If you previously declined your Stafford federal loans and would like to reinstate them, Entrance Loan Counseling must be completed prior to disbursement of those loans, and you must turn in a Revision Request form.
  • The amount of your loan “awards” is a yearly amount and will be divided into at least two disbursements, usually one in fall and the other in spring.
  • You need to do a promissory note for each type of loan program  (Stafford, Supplemental, Plus etc.)
  • Your eligibility for loans may change if you receive financial aid from other sources such as scholarships, tuition waivers, military educational benefits, etc.
  • Grants are set to automatically be accepted – its "free" money you don’t have to pay back. No need to accept them.
  • The Alaska Supplemental Loan is a type of Alternative Loan. This particular loan is only offered by Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education. You may choose another alternative loan but you will need to let us know by filling out a Revision Request.
  • Changes for summer cannot be submitted until AFTER you register for summer classes. There is a separate summer Revision Request form as well.
