STUDENT LOAN LENDERS NOTICE

Several Student Loan Lenders have announced that they are leaving the federal loan program. A couple of lenders have started sending out letters to notify students. If this is the case with your lender, you will need to choose a new lender for the 2008 - 2009 Award Year and do a new Master Promissory Note for your federal loans. Also, please contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance and let us know you have changed your lender.

Learn More About the TEACH Grant Program

This is a Federal Grant Program. Here are a few of the facts:

  • For undergraduate or graduate students
  • For students who intend to teach in public or private
elementary or secondary schools that serve students
    from low-income families
  • You must teach in a low-income school for at least
    four years
  • Your teaching service must be in a high-need field

Note: If you fail to complete this service obligation, all
amounts of TEACH Grants that you received will be
converted to a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan.
You must then repay the loan and you will be charged
interest from the date the grant was disbursed.

The details of the program are presently being worked on at
the federal level.  We do not yet have the TEACH
Agreement referred to in the link. We don't anticipate the
regulations being finalized until sometime in fall 2008.
