Introduction to Geographic Information Systems
The College of Engineering, Department of Geomatics at UAA offers a 18 credit, transcripted curriculum leading to a Minor in Geographic Information Systems. This program must be taken with another degree at UAA. It represents a focused, concentrated study in the emerging field of geospatial data—information that can be referenced to the Earth through various coordinate systems. Data of this type may include buildings, earthquake faults, river systems, geologic deposits, land use, population centers or anything that can be geographically referenced, and it includes remotely-sensed satellite imagery as well.
Students majoring in another subject who wish to minor in Geographic Information Systems must complete GIS Minor courses (18 credits)
To accommodate course prerequisites and scheduling, it is highly recommended that students follow this course sequencing.
