Graduate Student Employment (RA's and TA's)
Graduate Assistantships are awarded to qualified graduate students by each program. Typically, graduate students are awarded a research or teaching assistantship at the time they are admitted into their program and are renewed on a semester by semester basis. Some assistantships are awarded on a yearly basis. All assistantships have three components: a service component (conducting research or teaching), a stipend, and a tuition award for up to nine credits.  Graduate assistants who are enrolled fulltime are given a health insurance benefit as part of their assistantship. Graduate assistants are paid for a maximum of 20 hours per week while school is in session. Students should be given a copy of their contract letter to sign and keep. (See contract letter templates below.)
