Sustainable Project Ideas

  • Efficient Lighting - Pick a building to convert to LED lightbulbs.
  • Local Foods - Connect local businesses to UAA to support the community and provide healthier options.
  • Solar Panels or Wind Microturbines - Install small sources of alternative energy on campus.
  • Carpooling Projects - Set up a carpooling network to help students save money and time, and to reduce CO2 emissions. 
  • Vegetable Bus - Convert a shuttle's engine to run on organic waste like used vegetable oil. 
  • Dorm Garage Sales - Run a garage sale at the beginning or the end of the semester to help students reuse. 
  • Greenhouses - Build a greenhouse to supply UAA with fresh, locally grown food.
