Gates Public Service Law Scholarship is awarded to a 2008 Honors College Graduate

Miranda (Zindel) Strong, a 2008 University Honors College graduate, will be attending Law School at the University of Washington.  She has been selected as a Scholar in the William H. Gates Public Service Law Program.  This scholarship covers tuition, books, room and board and other fees.  Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, five Gates PSL Scholars are selected from the University of Washington's admitted students through a competitive review of applications and interviews and commit to a minimum of five years of public service following graduation. Miranda's interest in health and disability law drew her to UW.  Congratulations!

If you are a new student to the University Honors College this fall, you will want to attend the New Student Orientation on Friday, August 22 from 10am - 1pm at the Cuddy Dining Room.  You will get a chance to meet other Honors students, your professors, and learn about the Honors College. Families are invited and we will be serving lunch.

Spend Fall Semester in Washington DC - Full Scholarships Available.

hrough The Washington Center, UAA students can participate in semester-long academic internships in Washington, D.C. for credit. The fifteen-week program provides tailored internships that match the students’ academic, personal, and professional interests. The scholarship covers the program fee, housing, roundtrip air travel, and a living expense allowance.  Three full scholarships are available for students from Alaska for Fall 2008.  The application deadline is June 13.  For application materials, visit the website.  If you have any questions, contact Marian Mitchell
