Kaite Bringold

Katherine Bringold is the recipient of the 2006-2007 Claudia B. Lampman Prize for Excellence.

Implemented in 2005, the University Honors Dean's Awards for Excellence recognizes outstanding Honors students at the freshman, sophomore and junior levels with the Claudia B. Lampman, Prize for Excellence, the George A. Geistauts Prize for Excellence, and the Renee Carter-Chapman Award for Civic Engagement and Leadership, respectively.

One $200 award is made to a student at each level annually.  The awards are based in part on classroom performance in the Honors class(es) and also consider a student's overall academic excellence and achievements in community engagement and leadership activities.  To be eligible for consideration, a student must be enrolled in an Honors course during the academic year and be nominated by the Honors faculty member teaching that course.

Nominees are asked to submit a resume highlighting their activities and achievements and, depending on which award they have been nominated for, a personal statement of 500 words that addresses (a) their most significant academic of the current year or (b) their most significant accomplishment in leadership activities and/or civic engagement of the current academic year.  An awards panel comprised of faculty representatives from the University Honors Council and members of the University Honors chapter of the UAA Alumni Association convenes in April to determine the winners. Awardees are announced at the Honors Graduate Reception.

In 2008, on the recommendation of the University Honors College Student Advisory Board, the University Honors College established a new Dean's Award that recognizes teh voluntary hard work and leadership of one of our graduating University Honors Scholars.
