Fall 2014 Grants and Awards

 

OURS Grants & Awards Fall 2014

  • Fran Ulmer Transformative Research Award:  These grants fund significant undergraduate research and creative projects in areas with the potential to transform the way we live, work, and see the world.  Broad topics of particular interest include Sustainability, Complexity, Climate Change, and Social and Public Policy.  Deadline is 5pm on Monday, October 6, 2014.
  • Undergraduate Research Grants: Undergraduate Research Grants fund significant undergraduate research or creative projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor. This year there are two independent grant review cycles per semester. Deadline is 5pm on Monday, October 6 and Friday, December 5 , 2014.
  • ISER Policy Research Award:  These awards are presented to outstanding students in the social sciences and other applicable fields interested in the analysis of public policy issues.  Deadline is 5pm on Monday, October 21, 2014.
  • Alaska Heart Institute Fellowship: Made possible by a major gift from the Alaska Cardiovascular Research Foundation, these awards fund significant undergraduate biomedical research projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Deadline is 5pm on Monday, October 6, 2014.
  • Undergraduate Research in the Community Award: This award supports projects that actively involve and meet the needs of community partners. Deadline is 5pm on Monday, October 6 and Friday, December 5, 2014.
  • Discovery Grants: The Discovery Grants contribute support to ongoing undergraduate research and creative projects. Students may apply for Discovery Grants on a year round basis via the online application process.

OURS Grants & Awards Spring 2015

  • Undergraduate Research Grants: Undergraduate Research Grants fund significant undergraduate research or creative projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor. This year there are two independent grant review cycles per semester. 
  • ISER Policy Research Award:  These awards are presented to outstanding students in the social sciences and other applicable fields interested in the analysis of public policy issues.
  • Student Conference on United States Affairs (SCUSA): SCUSA is a conference devoted to international relations, economics, political science, and related social science fields that is held each fall at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point. Delegates participate in round table discussions and generate policy proposal papers on a variety of current issues. Full funding is available for two UAA students, selected via a competitive application process held on campus
  • Alaska Heart Institute Biomedical Research Fellowships: Made possible by a major gift from the Alaska Cardiovascular Research Foundation, these awards fund significant undergraduate biomedical research projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor.
  • Research Internship in Ecology and Physiological Ecology Award: This award is presented to an exemplary undergraduate student in the natural sciences interested in gaining research experience in the fields of ecology and/or physiology. The successful candidate will participate in a 10-week summer research program coordinated by UAA's REU Program in the Biological Sciences and will be awarded a $4000 stipend. 
  • UAA Library Consortium Prize: This annual $500 award recognizes an exemplary undergraduate research project that demonstrates significant scholarly investigation and utilization of library resources (archival and electronic).
  • UAA Undergraduate Research in the Community Award: This grant supports UAA's partnerships in the community and encourages the practical application of scholarly inquiry. Research conducted under the guidance of a faculty member and developed with a community agency, will address a specific need in the Anchorage community. The final project will be delivered to the partnering agency for use in planning or program development. Awards will fund up to $2000 for project expenses plus a $500 stipend.
  • Discovery Grants: The Discovery Grants primarily contribute support for student travel to present research and creative projects at conferences. Students may apply for Discovery Grants on a year round basis via the online application process.
  • Meissner Creative Award in the Visual Arts: A $1,000 prize is awarded to one student each year for an outstanding project in the visual arts.
  • Discovery Award: Discovery Awards recognize one undergraduate student for overall excellence including exceptional achievement in research or creative activity. Students must be nominated by their academic department to be eligible.
