Health Information Technology Training Project

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) established the Community College Consortia to Educate Health Information Professionals to help address the growing demand for highly skilled health IT specialists.

The ONC defined six workforce roles needed in HIT in the next 5 years:

  • Practice workflow and information management redesign specialists
  • Clinician/practitioner consultants
  • Implementation support specialists
  • Implementation managers
  • Technical software support staff
  • Trainers
