Wireless Network (WiFi)

Wireless internet access is available at all UAA campuses. There are three flavors of wireless network.

  • UAA WiFi - Public - Anyone can use this network for basic internet access. This network has speed and security restrictions. You'll be asked to agree to the terms and conditions when you first try to use the web.
  • UAA WiFi - Full Access - Students, staff, and faculty can use this unrestricted wireless network to connect to the internet and UAA resources. You must sign in with your username and password the first time you use the web
  • UAA WiFi - VPN - This special hidden network is for UAA employees to have unrestricted access without logging into a web page. Employees must connect their VPN and connecting to this network. This network is useful for employee laptops.

Residence Hall Network

All UAA residence halls are equipped with high speed internet connections to support your academic and personal life. Most residence halls have a wall outlet you can plug in to. MAC residence halls have high speed routers (LRE modem) with instructions.

  • Configure your computer for automatic internet access (DHCP)
  • Configure your computer to use your router in your room (Long Range Ethernet)

Wired Network

Wired network access is available in offices, classrooms, and residence halls. Many network outlets are already active and configured to automatically connect your computer to the internet (DHCP). Some employees will have special needs that require manual configuration (static IP address).

Accessing UAA from Off Campus (VPN)

For security reasons, many technology resources are not available on the public internet. This includes file shares, software checkout, and some web applications. Employees can setup the virtual private network (VPN) software on their computer to be able to work from home. Connecting via VPN is equivalent to being on campus; though maybe slower depending on your internet connection speed.
