Regardless of whether or not they have earned money or received scholarships, international students on F or J visas are obliged to file paperwork with the Internal Revenue Service each year. A link to the Internal Revenue Service providing tax information specific to foreign students and scholars can be found here.

International Student Services offers tax workshop with a representative from the Internal Revenue Service for international students every year during the Spring semester. The presentation from 2011's workshop can be found here.
