RUSS A101 - Elementary Russian I – 4.0 CR  Introductory course for students with no previous knowledge of the Russian language. Develops listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in Russian for effective communication at the elementary level. Students gain understanding of basic cross-cultural perspectives. 

RUSS A102 - Elementary Russian II – 4.0 CR   Continuation of introductory course. Further develops elementary listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in Russian for effective communication. Enhances appreciation of cross-cultural perspectives. 

RUSS A201 - Intermediate Russian I – 4.0 CR   Intermediate course for students with basic knowledge of Russian. Enhances listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills for effective communication at the Intermediate I level. Students critically examine diverse cultural perspectives.

RUSS A202 - Intermediate Russian I – 4.0 CR  Continuation of first semester in intermediate Russian. Further develops listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency for effective communication and in preparation for advanced study of Russian. Students interpret diverse cultural perspectives.

RUSS A294 – Survey of Russian Literature – 3.0 CR  Introduces students to major Russian writers and the Russian literary tradition.  (Conducted in English)

RUSS A301 – Advanced Russian I – 4.0 CR   Advanced Russian course in refining listening, speaking, reading, writing, and analytical skills for effective interaction in communicatively complex situations.  Students critically analyze diverse cultural topics.

RUSS A302 – Advanced Russian II – 4.0 CR  Continuation of first semester in advanced Russian.  Further refines listening, speaking, reading, writing, and analytical skills for effective interaction in communicatively complex situations.  Students critically analyze diverse cultural topics.

RUSS A390 – Selected Topics in Advanced Russian – 3.0 CR  Recent topics include: Advanced Russian III, Advanced Grammar and Culture

RUSS A390B – Focused Topics in Russian – 1.0 CR  Recent topics include: Word Building, Advanced Phonetics, Russian Idioms

RUSS A490 – Selected Topics in Russian Culture – 3.0 CR  Recent topics include: Love and Society in 19th c. Russian Literature; Death, Duels and Redemption in 19th c. Russian Literature; Russian Women Writers; Russian Detective Fiction (Conducted in Russian)

Courses conducted in English with Russia content are offered in a variety of departments, such as history, art, theatre, anthropology, and geography.  Russian majors are encouraged to take as many of these as possible.
