LRC Math Testing Center

The LRC provides test proctoring services for students in College Preparatory & Development Studies (CPDS) courses. Test proctors are on site to distribute and store tests and to monitor the testing environment.

Services Offered

The LRC Testing Center works with CPDS to administer tests for Math 054, 055, and 105. In addition to maintaining the integrity of the testing environment, test proctors also store graded tests in the Testing Center so that students may review them in the Math Lab.

Format of Service Delivery

The goal of the LRC Testing Center is to provide you with a low stress testing environment. The LRC seeks to maintain a space that is comfortable, has few distractions, and allows you to take tests at your own pace and at the time when you feel most prepared.

Tests can be taken in the Testing Center any time the LRC Math Lab is open, but the LRC stops distribution tests one hour prior to closing, and all tests are collected promptly at the scheduled closing time.

Instructors subsequently pick up and grade their students’ tests, and tests are returned to the Math Lab. After your test is graded, you may also review your test and and ask tutors for clarification of concepts.

How to Prepare for Your Test

In order to have a less stressful testing experience, we encourage you to come prepared. The following tips will help you to prepare for your tutoring session:

  • Study

    • Being prepared for a test will not only greatly improve your score, but will also greatly reduce stress, even if you already understand the material.
  • Give yourself plenty of time

    • Use the flexibility of the Testing Center to your advantage and test when it’s convenient for you.

    • Test early to ensure that you can meet course deadlines.

    • Ensure that you have enough time to test. The Lab will stop administering tests one hour prior to close, but if you like to take your time, come early and with plenty of time to meet your testing needs and preferences.

    • Don’t put off testing until the last minute, because you might run out of time.  
  • Come prepared

    • Visit the Testing Center when you are rested, nourished, and alert.

    • Bring a pencil, an eraser, and your WolfCard or a photo ID.

    • If you will need a calculator, bring one with you.  If you do not have a calculator, you may use your WolfCard to check one out from the LRC Library.

Testing Rules

The Testing Center seeks to provide a comfortable and relaxed environment, but it is actively monitored. The following rules are enforced in the Testing Center:
  • All belongings must be stored under your table or chair. Only testing materials and a beverage may be on the table.

  • You may not use notes or books.

  • If you need scratch paper, it is provided by the test proctor; you may not use your own.

  • Cell phone use is not allowed for any reason.

  • Talking to other students in the testing center is prohibited.

LRC Math Lab Rules for Reviewing a Test

  • You must present a photo identification in order to review exams.

  • You are permitted to review any exam you wish, but you may review only one exam at a time.
     
  • Access the filing cabinets where tests are stored is restricted. Proctors will retrieve and check out exams for you.
     
  • All tests must remain in the Math Lab and may not leave the Lab for any reason.

  • You may not take photographs of tests, share their graded test, or copy exam materials.

  • Tutors are available to help you understand mathematical concepts contained in exams. If you have questions about test scoring or class grades, contact your instructor.
